Each acceptable round produces a score differential normalized by slope rating. The constant 113 represents a course of standard difficulty.
Differential = (113 ÷ Slope) × (Adjusted Gross Score − Course Rating)Use the lowest differentials from your most recent 20 scores (8 for 20 scores, fewer for smaller records). Multiply the average by 0.96 for the handicap index.
Index = Average of lowest N differentials × 0.96Convert Handicap Index to strokes received on a specific course and tee by applying slope and the rating-to-par adjustment.
Course Handicap = Index × (Slope ÷ 113) + (Course Rating − Par)Updated: July 2026
An 85 adjusted gross on a course rated 72.0/130 yields a differential near 11.3 — contributing to your index calculation alongside other recent rounds.
Before a net tournament, calculate course handicap from your current index and the tournament tee rating to confirm strokes received on each hole per allocation table.
Enter each posted round to watch your index trend. Lower differentials replace higher ones in the best-8-of-20 calculation as your game improves.
